MMA Fans Call for Adesanya Matchup After Caio Borralho Outduels Jared Cannonier in UFC Fight Night Main Event
Caio Borralho, proudly representing the Fighting Nerds, secured the biggest victory of his career in Saturday’s UFC Fight Night main event, earning a decision win over Jared Cannonier.
In the opening round, Borralho put Cannonier in a tough spot, using his kicks to effectively break down the veteran contender. However, Cannonier, a seasoned fighter and former title challenger, found his rhythm in the second round, landing punches that briefly wobbled 'The Natural' near the end of the frame.

The third round was an action-packed affair, with both fighters nearly even in significant strikes, particularly to the head. Borralho managed to stagger Cannonier, but despite 'The Killa Gorilla's' attempts to counter with his power, he stumbled, revealing he was still hurt. Even so, Cannonier managed to survive the round.
Borralho maintained his aggressive approach in the fourth round, but Cannonier, at 40 years old, fought back with powerful, damaging shots. By the end of the round, noticeable swelling had formed around one of Borralho’s eyes.
How didn’t the ref stopped that Cannonier was literally out?

In the final round, Borralho delivered a decisive one-two combination that dropped Cannonier. The Brazilian quickly transitioned to ground-and-pound, following up with a choke attempt. Despite the intense pressure, Cannonier managed to withstand the assault.
The judges’ scores reflected Borralho’s dominance, with two awarding him 49-45 and one scoring it 48-46, all in favor of the Brazilian.
Borralho has only lost two fights in his professional career so far. He remains undefeated in the UFC with a 6-0 record, having earned his contract by defeating current Bellator fighter Aaron Jeffrey on Dana White’s Contender Series. Entering this fight after a knockout victory over Paul Craig at UFC 301, Borralho is now positioning himself among the top middleweight contenders.
In his post-fight interview, Borralho took the opportunity to call out Dricus Du Plessis, who successfully defended his UFC middleweight title against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 in Perth, Australia, last weekend.
On the other hand, Cannonier has now suffered back-to-back losses and has dropped three of his last five fights, dating back to his unsuccessful title challenge against then-champion Adesanya at UFC 276 in the summer of 2022.
